Empty can inspection

Free-flow camera lighting unit for inspecting empty, opaque containers with a cylindrical shape.

For inspecting empty drinks cans, fluted cans or cans for cosmetics and homecare.

  • Cans made of aluminium or tinplate, all shapes and sizes
  • Reliably detects defects or contamination on the rim, base and even on the inner side wall
  • Low space requirement

For checking for damage and soiling around the neck finish, on the inside or on the base.
Bottoms with closures can also be checked.

It is not necessary to align the containers.

The inspection is carried out using a special two-camera system, which increases the focal range and enables precise inspection of even taller containers.
Colour cameras and an application-specific high-performance LED lighting system are used.

The empty containers can be inspected for the following criteria, among others:

  • Deformation, such as dents
  • Ovality
  • Chipping
  • Scratches and cracks
  • Contamination
  • Foreign bodies
